Angelina Jolie Opens Up About Her Divorce: A Challenging Journey

During her visit to Cambodia to promote her new film, First They Killed My Father, Angelina Jolie opened up about her highly publicized separation from Brad Pitt. This marked the first time that the actress, director, and UN goodwill ambassador had spoken publicly about the split. Despite being asked about recent events, Jolie’s response was conciliatory, where she expressed that the past few months have been challenging.

I don’t want to delve much into that, but it was a challenging period for us. However, we are a tight-knit family and we will always remain so. We will overcome this phase and hopefully come out stronger. This is not an uncommon situation, and many families go through similar struggles. We have all faced difficulties, but we will persevere.

Jolie explained that her current top concern is her children, emphasizing the importance of their well-being.

The main thing I’m putting my attention on is my kids, and by extension all of our children. My goal right now is to navigate through this difficult time. We are still a family, and that will never change. So my approach is to figure out how we can come out of this situation even stronger and more connected than before.

When asked about her aspirations for the next five years, Jolie jokingly replied if she would have all teenagers then. She further added that in five years’ time, she would love to travel around the world and visit her children, while hoping that they are happy and engaged in interesting things. Her plan is to support them in every part of the world and represent the right things to them, while giving them a good sense of what they are capable of and how to view the world beyond Hollywood or a limited kind of life. Jolie aims to shape them into well-rounded individuals who can perceive the world in a positive light.
