Despite being of Greek descent, Cleopatra has faced criticism for being portrayed by white actresses. Gal discussed this issue in an interview with BBC Arabic, stating, “If we’re sticking to historical accuracy, Cleopatra was Macedonian. We searched for a Macedonian actress suitable for the role, but couldn’t find one. I have a deep admiration for Cleopatra and want to do justice to her legacy.”
Gal also challenged other filmmakers to create their own interpretations of Cleopatra’s story, declaring, “Anyone can make this movie and tell her story. I am committed to honoring and celebrating Cleopatra in my own way.”
It was wonderful to catch up with former Miss Israel as she met with actress Zoe Kravitz, 33.
